First, we establish what the record describes: the battery, time period, measurement point, units, sign, missing data and any transformation applied to the source.
Where the records can be compared on a stated basis, we ask whether recorded response remained broadly shared or repeatedly appeared in the same channels, whether an earlier pattern appeared again under comparable conditions, and whether the instruments could distinguish a difference.
